Google brings 3D map technology into classrooms.

Forty-five million students and teachers worldwide are using Google technology to take virtual-reality adventures to foreign countries, museums, and historical sites. The free program, called Expeditions, provides teachers with kits comprised of cell phones and cardboard viewers. Engineers at Google worked with educators to design the virtual-reality trips around existing curricula, and used GoPro cameras and 360° Street Views to create 3D images and video for the excursions.

The success of Expeditions has led other tech companies to “focus on designing products specifically for classroom use.” At CEF, we’re excited about the possibilities this holds for more exploratory, immersive, and fun ways to teach!
