ARLINGTON, VA – Get ready to experience the next generation of innovators in action. This year’s CEF Challenge Program, a national STEM competition for students in grades 5-8, has inspired more than 14,000 students to explore STEM and sustainability like never before.
The theme—You Be the Solution: Develop a sustainable solution to a local natural hazard that ensures community safety—has sparked innovative and creative thinking. With 30 in-person Regional Challenges, two Virtual Challenge events, and hundreds of groundbreaking student video submissions, this cycle is already a powerful testament to what’s possible when students are empowered to lead.
On June 10, the excitement continues as the Top 5 finalist teams from California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Ohio, and Virginia take the stage in Houston, TX. Watch them compete for scholarships and the National Champion title as they present their solutions to a panel of esteemed judges. This final competition is free, open to the public, and promises to be an inspiring showcase of youth innovation. Industry professionals, educators, and community members are encouraged to attend and show support. Your presence sends a clear message: their future in STEM matters.
The Dinner & Awards Ceremony will be held on June 11, an evening of celebration, inspiration, and recognition. Guests will enjoy networking receptions, an exciting keynote, magical entertainment, and the chance to support STEM education through CEF’s Silent Auction.
The Challenge is more than a competition—it’s a transformative journey. Team-based and community-focused, it encourages students to explore real-world problems and build sustainable solutions together, mirroring the collaborative nature of today’s STEM careers.
Tickets for the Dinner & Awards Ceremony are still available, and sponsorship opportunities remain open. Attendees can be part of the celebration and help honor the students shaping tomorrow.
